Good Morning! Really looking forward to welcoming two of our favourite Yarra winemakers to the tasting bench tomorrow night (May 29th) – Tony Fikkers and Dom Valentine.

The Fikkers Two Bricks label has gone from strength to strength over the last few vintages, with Tony’s winemaking approach very much resonating with the public – accessible, moreish wines that can be enjoyed straight up. His 2014 releases further enhance that reputation – Two Bricks Sauvignon Semillon, Two Bricks Sangiovese and a more premium ‘Fikkers’ Pinot Noir. The only problem with them is the quantity available – Meunier goes in a heartbeat, only 65 dozen Pinot ….. don’t delay!

And speaking of hitting the mark, Dom’s Valere label does just that too! He’ll have his 2013 Riesling from Mansfield open for us on Friday night, as well as a cracking 2013 Rheingau Riesling from a winemaking friend in Germany (the guy is the winemaker at much acclaimed Weingut, Georg Breuer).

Four wines from two of the Yarra’s young guns, and one from a young German gun – sounds like fun! Join us tomorrow (May 29th) from 5-7pm with Tony and Dom.

A Few Fortified Tasting Spots Still Available!

Our Global Fortified Tasting is just under two weeks away, and there are a few spots left in this initimate, high quality tasting.

The best of Australia, Spain, Portugal – why wouldn’t you get yourself ready for the Winter ahead with an expansive and informative tasting like this??!!

$20.00 per person …. do it!

Warramate White Label Cabernet Merlot 2006

To close this week, a bargain, mature Yarra Cabernet at a stellar price… just $30!

We’ve powered through a chunk of this in the last ten days, and it is definitely newsletter worthy gear! This is the ‘reserve’ label from Warramate – all old vine fruit (and when I say old vine, 1970) and dry grown.

The ’06 Cabernet Merlot (there’s a little franc in there too!) is in a very happy place right now – still bright on the nose but nearly a decade on, showing the integration of tannin, fruit and acidity that makes for interesting and above all, wonderfully enjoyable consumption! Mulberry and cassis fruit, traces of leather and cigar box – layers of complex flavour and good length.

A classic example of aged, medium bodied Yarra Cabernet at 33% off RRP!
