Gary Steel has been responsible for importing some truly great European wines into Australia for nearly 40 years. His company, Domaine Wine Shippers, has a few of the biggest names in French wine in its portfolio:

  • Billecart Salmon
  • Domaine Raveneau
  • Domaine Armand Rousseau
  • Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils
  • Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue

Just a brief selection of quality producers within one of the premium European ranges available in the land. So we’ve picked the eyes out of the portfolio and put together a cool little mix of all French gear, with a focus on Burgundy. We’ll bookend the tasting with an Alsatian Riesling from Cave de Ribeauville and the 2009 Delas Chateauneuf du Pape. The Burgundies will fill the middle – Patrick Piuze Chablis ‘Terroir de Fye’ 2013, Domaine Andre Delorme Givry ‘Premier Cru’ 2012 and Bouchard Bourgogne ‘La Vignee’ 2012. The Burgundies are a bit of a tease of things to come – we’re in the midst of putting together a Burgundy lunch in late June – so stay tuned for more details!

In the meantime, five cracking French wines open for your tasting pleasure this Friday May 15th, 5-7pm, with our DWS man Darcy Curnow on hand to chat about them. Lock it in!

Global Fortified Tasting – Wednesday June 10th at 6:30pm – Places filling quick!

The response to last week’s announcement of our Global Fortified Tasting has been great.

Please note that places are limited as many of the wines on show only come in 375ml bottles, so don’t dilly dally and miss out.

Given that we are still in Autumn and there is snow on the hills, a good stock of fortifieds is an absolute necessity for the months ahead! Try before you buy at our tasting that includes Rutherglen Muscats and Muscadelles, wines from the Madeira Islands, Portugal and of course, Spain. Book now!

Wednesday June 10th from 6.30pm – 8:00pm. $20.00 per person.

To book simply call the shop on 03 5962 6699.

Cheers
