TeMata Coleraine 2013 take a bow… 100 points!
How’s this for a review?
‘Coleraine ’13. They say there is no such thing as perfection in wine, but if there was one, this has to be it. A profound offering from New Zealand’s greatest wine label, this majestic 2013 is complete. Complex aromas of cassis, dark plum, game, cedar and floral, lead to a concentrated palate that is dense and weighty while remaining delightful and delectable. The wine offers wonderful fruit richness and texture, classically structured by abundance of fine, chalky tannins. It is spectacularly refined and stylish. 100 points. 5 stars.’ Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 2015.
I agree! Tried this Hawke’s Bay Cabernet last week and it is one of the most complete wines to come across the tasting bench, period. 2013 is a fantastic vintage on the North Island and this is one wine that has serious pedigree when it comes to cellaring. And really, in gloabl terms it is a bargain – think of what $80 gets you in Bordeaux……..not a great deal!
