I always look forward to catching up with Libby Bentley. I’ve known her for the best part of 15 years and she is one of the most professional people in the Melbourne wine scene, and has a sharp mind for the industry as a whole.

What she doesn’t know about wholesale, marketing and sales, isn’t worth knowing, and so it came as no surprise when Libby decided to ‘go it alone’ and set up her own specialist wine distribution company. Over the last 12 months or so, she has garnered a great little mix of classy producers from all over south east Australia and abroad.

This Friday night we’ll have a look at a select mix out of the Bentley Wine Company bag: pristine Eden Valley Riesling from Poonawatta Estate, complex Henty sourced pinot gris from Provenance Wines, classic Provencal rose from Mirabeau WInes, and a couple of smashing reds – an aged Cabernet from Victorian stalwart Craiglee, and a hot new Sagrantino from Bill Downie’s Save Our Souls project.

FIVE gobfulls of deliciousness await! Join Libby in store this Friday March 15th from 5pm!

Those wines again on tasting this Friday night are:
– Poonawatta Estate ‘The Eden’ Riesling 2014
– Provenance ‘Tarrington’ Pinot Gris 2013
– Mirabeau Rose 2013
– Save Our Souls Heathcote Sagrantino 2014
– Craiglee Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

What are you after in 2015?

Another year is flying by so it’s time to start planning some events for the months ahead. We’ve got a new website which we are a bit excited about, and I have some ideas as far as tastings and masterclasses go, but I would love to hear what you, the customer, want from us, the wine store.

We’re taking a leaf out of Gillon McLachlan’s AFL handbook and listening to the fans!! So whether it be spirit masterclasses, more of a focus on Sake, wine dinners, education……whatever it may be, let us know and we’ll schedule it in for the year ahead!

Some quiet reading

Jac+ Jack designer Jacqueline Hunt talks wine, food and nature in the Yarra Valley. Well worth a look.

– Bentley Wine Co tasting tomorrow night
Journey Wines tasting next Friday night with Damian North

Enjoy a great weekend
