Squitchy Lane Chardonnay 2017

“Light yellow hue. Straw, hay and oatmeal bouquet, a hint of almond and nougat, savoury and dry – as is the taste. It’s lean and savoury, dry and tightly-composed. A good drink, without great dimension or complexity but certainly very pleasurable.” 90 Points, Huon Hooke
It is such a pity that a lot of the 2017 Yarra Valley Chardonnays have been consumed already because they are really start to come into their own. That sublime acidity has held those wines together really well and to be honest haven’t really been ready to until now. The difference is that there is more flavour now and the wines are just that much more approachable. Squitchy Lane 2017 Chardonnay is a barrel fermented style displaying baked peach, lemon zest, nougat supported by a rounded textural palate and a long line of balanced acidity that leads to a fantastic flavoursome finish. Drinks well but pop a few in the cellar until 2025 for further enjoyment.
