UTTER Pinot Noir 2018
A tiny bit excited about this one. OK, a lot bloody excited about this one. Beats the pants off the 2017. Smaller bunches have given more intensity especially from the raspberry bush and the cherry orchard but there is also a lovely whack of fresh strawberry and flecks of cumquat keeping it fresh. Lovely savoury tobacco leaf, herbal and just a touch of stewed fruit kick in as the wine opens up in the glass. Also lovers and followers of Mayer Bloody Hill will be impressed by this one. Should pull some golds and 90+ scores but I am going to enjoy watching this one evolve. Utterly brilliant Buxton producer. Boom Boom! Drink now if you can’t wait but this should age gracefully for the rest of the decade. Stash a few (dozen) in the cellar and pull out over the next few years at carefully planned intervals, you won’t be sorry.
