Mayer Granite Pinot Noir 2019 Upper Yarra Valley

More approachable than the last vintage and actually softer than I expected to be. Forward medium intensity raspberry and red cherry up front with strawberry, dark cherry, cranberry and a touch of tobacco leaf building up on the long and slightly drying finish. Still a little tight but really it was only just bottled in June so that’s to be expected. It will open up in the glass but a quick decant followed by a 10 minute rest will open it up nicely. Decant and drink now or cellar for 5 years and drink whilst still on the youngish side to take advantage of the very pretty and elegant structure.

$60 or 3 for $156
