Uva Non Grata Gamay 2020

This tastes like a Beaujolais from a really good vintage but it is not Beaujolais, it’s actually a Rhone producer. Gamay loves the granite/siliceous soils of the vineyards in the hills to the North West of Lyon in eastern France. 2019 was a warm, dry year across France and the grapes were hand-picked deliberately early to maintain freshness. In the cellar, grapes are vinified using traditional carbonic maceration techniques and minimum handling to keep the up front fruity style. This is made from a  Gamay clone that gives smaller bunches with more flavour. Bouncy, crunchy Gamay, this no-fuss wine is an irresistible fruit bomb packed with amazing primary fruit aromas, delicious soft red berry flavours and a note of dark chocolate. Gorgeous Gamay at its best.
This is a wine that has enough intensity to match up to simple duck dishes and it has soft enough tannins not to clash with any spicy heat. For a truly amazing experience the carbonic notes and gluggable factor work really well with barbecued chicken. Oh so good with the chips and gravy too!!!
Fun quality drinking with an X factor it is little wonder that this is fast becoming one of our best selling wines. As I keep saying “don’t take my word for it, these Healesvillians are all over a good wine for a great price.”
