Ingram Road Single Vineyard Merlot 2018

I have always loved Scotty McCarthy’s Merlots. Scott realises that the quickest way to bugger up making a Merlot is to forget that it’s Merlot. Sounds stupid but if you pick it early, pick it late or over extract way too much in the winery you will pretty much hide or lose all of the flavour. That’s what that little guy in the movie Sideways was on about, lots of producers in California were trying to emulate and reproduce Opus One and Petrus at that stage and no-one was getting even close, and if you ask me they should never had tried. This is good old fashioned soft smooth velvety Merlot with oodles of plum and fruitcake note. Delicious.
